Lecture about International Women’s Day for Khartoum University students


A lecture devoted to International Women’s Day (March 8) took place at the Pushkin classroom of Russian language (named in the honor Alexander Pushkin – great Russian poet and writer of the XIX century) at the Khartoum University. This day is one of the widely celebrated holidays all over the world.

The report was made by Noemi Arzuaga Guerra, wife of a Russian diplomat working in Khartoum. In her speech she narrated about the traditions connected to this day and the origin of this holiday.

The discourse arouse great interest of the audience among which there were  students from the Khartoum University studying Russian language, Russians living or working in Sudan, as well as all those interested in Russian literature, history and traditions.

The report of Noemi Arzuaga Guerra is the second in the lecture series dedicated Russian history and traditions at the Pushkin classroom. Earlier Sergey Konyashin, third secretary of Russian Embassy, made a report about Russian national Defender of the Fatherland Day (February 23). More lectures are scheduled: about the Cosmonautics Day (April 12), the anniversary of the Soviet Victory in the Great Patriotic War (May 9), the life and work of Alexander Pushkin (June 6), and others.

Besides, in the eve of the anniversary of the Soviet Victory over the fascism best Russian and Soviet World War II movies are displayed at the Pushkin classroom of Russian language at the University of Khartoum.
